Short answer: Gmelius is a team platform inside Gmail. It gives Google Workspace teams shared inboxes, shared labels, assignments, notes, SLAs and analytics, plus Meli, an AI assistant, and AI agents that act across connected tools. Jace is an AI email assistant for the person who owns the inbox. It labels incoming mail in Gmail or Outlook, writes reply drafts for you to review, and prepares follow-ups. If your team works a shared inbox such as support@ or ops@, Gmelius is the stronger product. If you want an assistant for your own inbox, or you use Outlook, Jace is the Gmelius alternative to try.
Product facts below come from Jace's own docs and from Gmelius's public pages, checked on 7 November 2026. Both products change often, so check the linked sources before you buy.

What Gmelius does well
Gmelius is built for teams that run client work out of shared addresses. It turns Gmail into a shared inbox: several people work the same mailbox from their own Gmail, assign conversations, leave notes and @mentions on a thread, share drafts for review and see when someone else is already replying (Shared inbox). Team plans add round-robin and load-balanced assignment, response-time SLAs, Kanban views and reports on team performance (pricing and plan comparison).
Its AI is aimed at the same team work. Meli, which Gmelius calls an AI Chief of Staff, learns from your team's Gmail, Calendar and connected tools and gives context to AI agents you describe in plain language. Gmelius says those agents triage, assign, draft, follow up and update tools such as Salesforce or HubSpot, acting on their own when they are confident and escalating to a person when they are not (Meli, Gmelius).
Gmelius also covers compliance needs that matter to some teams: its plan comparison lists SOC 2 Type II, and HIPAA Business Associate Agreements are available for healthcare teams. It says it never uses your data to train AI models.
What Jace does differently
Jace isn't a shared-inbox tool. It is an assistant for your own email that prepares replies so you can review and send them.
- Gmail and Outlook. Jace connects to Gmail and to Outlook (Microsoft 365 and Outlook.com). Labels sync as Gmail labels or Outlook categories and folders, and drafts land in your normal Drafts folder (Outlook setup). Gmelius is built around Gmail and Google Workspace accounts.
- Drafts waiting before you open the thread. Any label can draft replies automatically, with extra instructions. When Jace drafts, it reads the full thread and its attachments, checks your calendar for scheduling, looks in connected tools when that helps, and applies your rules, writing style and signature (Drafting docs, Labels docs).
- You stay the sender. Jace creates drafts by default. Automatic sending is an opt-in switch per label or Flow, with a warning before you turn it on.
- Follow-ups you don't track by hand. When you send an email and the thread sits in Waiting for three days with no reply, Jace prepares a follow-up draft. You can turn this off.
- Several inboxes, one person. Plus connects 2 inboxes per user and Pro up to 8, so you can handle a work, client or personal account from one place (Multiple accounts).
The trade-off, plainly: Jace has no shared inbox, no assignments, no internal notes or @mentions on threads, no collision detection, no SLA rules and no team analytics. Multiple accounts in Jace stay separate per person. There is no native mobile app yet either (Mobile docs).
When to pick Gmelius instead
Choose Gmelius if:
- Several people answer the same address, such as support@, ops@ or info@, and you need assignments, shared drafts, notes and collision detection.
- You want AI agents that triage and act on a team queue, not just help one person reply.
- You manage response times with SLAs, round-robin assignment and team performance reports.
- Your team is on Google Workspace and wants to stay inside Gmail.
- You need a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement.
When Jace is the better Gmelius alternative
Choose Jace if:
- The inbox that needs help is yours: client threads, deals or matters that you personally answer.
- You use Outlook or Microsoft 365, or a mix of Gmail and Outlook accounts.
- You want drafts prepared automatically and reviewed by you before anything is sent.
- Your replies depend on context: long threads, attached contracts or proposals, calendar availability, or notes in Slack, Drive, Notion or your CRM.
- You don't need shared-inbox features and would rather not pay for them.
Jace fits professionals who carry their own client conversations. Lawyers keep matter threads and documents moving (Jace for lawyers). Consultants and agencies manage several clients' inboxes at once (Jace for consultants).
Can you use Jace and Gmelius together?
They solve different problems, so some teams could use both: Gmelius for shared addresses, Jace for each person's own inbox. Gmelius's shared inboxes run on Google accounts, so check how a shared mailbox is connected before you point Jace at it. Running two AI tools that both draft or label the same inbox can create duplicate labels or drafts, so give each tool its own inbox or start Jace on a narrow set of labels.
FAQ
Is Jace a good Gmelius alternative? It is if you use Gmelius mainly for AI help with your own email: drafts, sorting and follow-ups. If your team relies on Gmelius shared inboxes, assignments and SLAs, Jace doesn't replace them.
Does Jace have a shared inbox? No. Jace doesn't offer shared inboxes, assignments, internal notes or collision detection. Each connected account is separate, even when one person connects several.
Does Gmelius work with Outlook? Gmelius is built for Gmail and Google Workspace, and its pricing FAQ defines a user as a Google or Google Workspace account. Jace connects to both Gmail and Outlook.
Does Jace send emails without me? Not by default. Jace creates drafts for you to review and send. You can turn on automatic sending for a specific label (Jace shows a warning first) or for a Flow.
How much does Jace cost compared with Gmelius? Jace Plus is $20 per month billed yearly ($25 monthly) and Pro is $40 billed yearly ($50 monthly), with a 7-day free trial. Gmelius lists Meli at $19, Growth at $25 and Pro at $40 per user per month billed yearly, with higher monthly prices and a 7-day trial. See Jace pricing for credits and plan limits.
Is my email used to train AI models? Jace's security page says it never trains AI models on your email content. Gmelius says it never uses your data to train AI models.
Try Jace on your own inbox
