How Jace handles legal email

Jace is an AI email assistant that works inside the Gmail or Outlook account you already use. For lawyers, the useful part isn't speed for its own sake. It's drafts built from the full thread, labels that keep matters apart, and a review step before anything leaves your inbox.

Drafts built from the whole matter thread

Before it drafts, Jace reads the earlier messages in the thread and the PDFs, documents and images attached to it. A reply about a revised clause reflects what was already agreed, not just the last message.

Review before send, by default

Replies are saved to your normal drafts folder, on desktop and mobile. Auto-send is off unless you turn it on yourself for a specific label or workflow, and the setting warns you before you do.

A label for each matter or client

Create an AI label with a plain-language description, such as "emails about the Harper lease renewal or from @harperholdings.com". Jace applies it to matching mail, and it syncs to Gmail labels or Outlook categories.

Follow-ups on threads waiting for the other side

Threads where you're waiting on opposing counsel or a client get a Waiting label. When a conversation stalls, Jace can prepare a polite follow-up draft for you to review.

Rules for tone and routine requests

Write instructions in plain English, such as "When replying to opposing counsel, keep a formal tone and don't confirm dates without asking me". Jace applies them to every relevant draft.

Answers from your own email history

Ask Jace in chat what was agreed on a matter, or who sent the last redline, and it searches your connected inbox. Pro searches 3 years of email history; Plus searches 1 year.

Confidentiality: what Jace does and doesn't do

Email is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Jace does not train AI models on your email content and does not sell your data.
Jace asks Google or Microsoft only for the permissions it needs to sync mail, calendars and contacts. You can revoke access from your Google or Microsoft account at any time.
