What rules do
Rules are short, reusable instructions that guide how Jace drafts and acts. Add them in Settings → Rules. Jace applies them automatically when they’re relevant.
Common examples:
- Name: “Please address me with the name: Alex”
- Scheduling: “For scheduling meetings, use Google Calendar” or “For scheduling meetings, use Calendly”
- Email‑handling: “When handling emails about invoices, ask for a PO number before confirming shipment.”
Manage rules
Open Settings → Rules. You can add, edit, or remove rules at any time. Jace may suggest new rules when it notices repeated edits—accepting a suggestion will save it for future drafts.
Best practices
- Prefer reusable patterns over one‑offs
- Keep instructions short and specific to the behavior you want
- Split complex workflows into 2–3 rules rather than one long instruction
Drafting with rules
When you draft with AI, Jace uses your rules plus your signature/send‑as settings so the draft matches your style. Jace won’t duplicate your signature.

Troubleshooting
- If a rule appears ignored, make sure it’s not contradicted by another rule
- A rule will only be applied to emails that arrive after the rule is saved or changed
