Create your first rule

Teach Jace a reusable preference or workflow in under 2 minutes.

What rules are

Rules are short instructions that shape how Jace drafts and acts. They’re stored as simple text and parsed into sections like name, scheduling, and email‑handling. You can add and manage rules in Settings → Rules.

Create a basic rule

  1. Open Settings → Rules
  2. In Name, set how Jace should address you (e.g. “Please address me with the name: Alex”)
  3. In Scheduling, choose your scheduling method (Google Calendar or a link)
  4. Add an email‑handling rule, e.g. “When handling emails about invoices, request a PO number before confirming shipment.”

Jace will apply these automatically when drafting.

Best practices

  • Keep rules reusable (avoid one‑offs)
  • Prefer broad patterns (“customer onboarding emails should …”) over exact senders
  • Review suggestions from Jace after you edit drafts—accepted suggestions become rules

Troubleshooting

  • If a rule seems ignored, check that it’s active and not contradicted by another rule
  • For complex workflows, split into 2–3 smaller rules instead of one long one
